Plant Science

The Plant Science course is a full year course for high school students.  Throughout this course, students will be studying the functions of each part of the plant, growing plants in our classroom, setting up and maintaining aeroponic grow tower systems throughout the school, planting, maintaining, and cleaning up our greenhouse and garden areas, and learn about different types of plants and how to identify them.  Students will have the opportunityto teach our sixth grade students about the aeroponic systems, visit a working vineyard in our area, will visit and explore Cornell Agri-Tech in Geneva, have visits by wine industry professionals in the classroom, learn about native plants at the Seneca Meadows Nature Preserve in Seneca Falls, and have a guest lecturer for four classes from the Cornell GRASSHOPR program (post-graduate students teaching in the area of their specialty).
