What goals/ideas do you have for HOSA this upcoming school year?
For HOSA this upcoming school year, I believe that as a community, we can bring in more enthusiastic members with high goals. Many students in our school either aren’t aware of the HOSA organization or believe it doesn’t hold significant value. However, I strive to change that by creating more events, whether it's social or academic, where our members who are competing can have more opportunities to prepare efficiently with our guidance for better chances of advancing. For example, one way we can do this is by creating a HOSA study buddy program which can pair one experienced member with a new member. This way, no one feels behind or left out, and can confidently ask for help and guidance. I remember freshman year in HOSA, I was very lost and me and my group weren’t sure where to start, or what to do. With the buddy system, Carroll HOSA ensures that every student is confident before their exam or competition. We could also make this into a point system for member recognition, which will motivate members to give HOSA their attention and dedication, contributing to the club and each other. With my grit and strong work ethic, I know that we can make Carroll HOSA a leading chapter that inspires excellence with others, within and beyond our community.
I know that I am qualified for this position because I bring both experience and passion to the table. I have had experience being a secretary in the middle school student council for 2 years. These years have helped me learn to love to voice my opinions and speak up. They gave me confidence and clarity, that what I was doing was right, and not second-guessing myself. This confidence helped me achieve better grades and speaking skills in other classes as well, like Entrepreneurship, where we have presentations frequently. I believe I can help others achieve this confidence as well if I am elected secretary. Over time, I’ve learned how to effectively communicate and take notes of meetings. From color coded planners to detailed to-do lists, I find genuine joy in bringing structure and shape to unorganized things, like events, calendars, and notes. I have the tendency to send those last minute reminders and check-ups without having been asked. I’m a behind the scenes leader, making sure that nothing goes unnoticed and everything is accounted for. In this scenario, that would be making sure all our members feel supported and that they have the tools and guidance they need to advance.
