How many years have you been an active member of HOSA?
I have been an active member of HOSA since my freshman year, so it has been 2 years.
Have you competed in HOSA? If yes, please list the event and how far you advanced (each year). Yes, I have competed in HOSA twice, both times for Biomedical Debate. For my first year, my group got 1st in testing and advanced to Area, however, we had a scheduling conference and couldn’t go to compete. In my second year, my group got 1st in testing, competed in Area, and received 5th place. Unfortunately, we did not make it to State, however, we received extremely complimentary criticism from the judges.
Did you attend all HOSA meetings this past year? If not, please explain.
No, I attended the first meeting of the year and the October meeting, however, I could not attend the HOSA Mock Competition. This was because I had SAT Prep after school, which was mandatory for me to attend.
List ALL activities you are involved in (School/Volunteer/Work). Be sure to include leadership roles within those activities. Please consider the time commitment of these activities before applying for a HOSA Officer position.

What goals/ideas do you have for HOSA this upcoming school year?
The major thing I would like to do for HOSA this upcoming school year is to incorporate events to allow everyone to succeed in competition. More than mock events, there could be peer mentoring where those in similar events help each other prepare. Furthermore, I would like to see HOSA recognized more throughout the school, as I feel like it isn’t very actively promoted during the school year. By further promoting HOSA, we will gain more members, which would contribute to the club's overall success. The final thing I would like to do is hold information sessions. Whether it is simply having guests come in and talk about specialties, or having hands-on activities/events, I would like to implement something to teach people more about medical professions. This would allow for higher member participation in the club, so that HOSA isn’t only about competing.
I feel that I am qualified for this position because…
I feel that I am qualified to be a HOSA officer because of the passion I hold, not only for the organization, but for medicine. After high school, I would like to pursue a career in the medical field, which not all people can say. I am extremely passionate about medicine, which is one of the main reasons I joined in my freshman year. When it comes to the position of Historian/Reporter, I know that I am qualified, as the responsibilities of the position are not new to me. When it comes to tracking member achievements and success, I have experience with the Southlake Public Library. Over the summer, I track the entries/registrations included in their Summer Reading Program as a Summer Reading Ambassador. Furthermore, when it comes to being a chapter photographer and maintaining news throughout the school year, I’ve had those responsibilities in the Southlake Leadership Foundation. For the Southlake Foundation United We Run Event, I managed the online registrations, organized on-site registration, managed donations made, photographed various festivities for social media, and reached out to local businesses for sponsorships. On top of the responsibilities of the historian, I plan to go above and beyond to create a social media page for the HOSA chapter and recognize various events. Whether it is announcing meetings, congratulating finalists in competitions, or just posting small tidbits of medical information, I would like to engage our HOSA community within the school. The jobs of the historian/reporter are well within my skill range, and I believe that I will be the best person for this position due to my current skill set.
