Wonderful how completely everything in wild nature fits into us, as if truly part and parent of us. The sun shines not on us, but in us. The rivers flow not past, but through us, thrilling, tingling, vibrating every fiber and cell of the substance of our bodies, making them glide and sing.

Broome County is home to a number of fantastic parks along its southern edge. Stretching from Jones Park in Vestal to Hawkins Pond State Forest in the far southeastern corner, there are a number of open spaces that offer opportunities to hike, bird-watch, and generally get outdoors. One vision we share at the STLC is creating easements that would allow us to link a number of these parks together to form a continuous "corridor" along our southern border. This corridor could connect Jones Park, Aqua Terra Park, Skyline State Forest, Jackson Pond Park, and Hawkins Pond State Forest. Ideally, such a corridor would include trails to enable hikers to amble through the woodlands and hills of our region.
Our first focus would likely be to connect Jones Park with Aqua Terra Park.
The STLC is currently looking for landowners that would be potentially willing to work with the STLC to create a mixed-use corridor between the parks of Southern Broome County. The STLC would love to talk with any interested parties in helping with this effort. Please let us know if you are interested!
