Closed/Open Campus

Flex Time

Our schools have a closed campus policy. Students must stay on the school grounds from the time they arrive, even if the first period has not yet started, until dismissal.

Students must provide a written parental request to the main office to leave school for any reason. A note must be signed by the parent and presented to the main office prior to the date of excuse. This includes NPLHS students who must report to Liberty Elementary School for any reason.

Also, students participating in the School to Work, the Dual Enrollment, and the Mountie Minutes early release programs must follow appropriate sign-out and sign-in procedures in the main office.

Flex Time

Flex time is a 90 minute period in the middle of the day that provides students with a time to eat lunch, attend advisory meetings, conduct clubs and spend time with teachers for support and extension.

The beginning of the year will start with a structured flex period with students being assigned to specific times for lunch, advisory and activities/tutorials. As the year progresses, students will be given more freedom during flex time that allows for more voice and choice in how they spend the 90 minutes. This progression will be determined as students demonstrate positive behaviors and understanding of and abiding to the rules of operation for the building.
