The Comparison and Contrast of El Culebron
Have you ever heard the tale of El Culebron? If not, he is a tale in Latin American folklore. El Culebron is a serpent that can shape-shift and has hypnotic powers. He is also territorial, attacking anyone who enters his territory. We can see a theme throughout these stories, Things aren't always as they seem.
In both of these stories you can see some similarities and differences. In my story, El Culebron is a helpful monster defending 5 sisters from wild animals. Though they were scared of El Culebron, he still helped them. In El Culebron' s original story, he is a feared evil serpent shape shifting into animals to have people let their guard down then he starts attacking everyone.
So I decided to keep El Culebron's powers and make him a more helpful character than his original story. In both stories they have hypnotic powers, shapeshift, and have the same looks, being very large.
According to the website “Daytranslations" It says El Culebron shapeshifts then attacks hikers who stumble across its hiding place, that's why hikers don't go to its known area. It also says he hypnotizes his prey when hunting. In my story I made him a protector of 5 sisters only being aggressive when he needs to be and saving them. This shows they are the same but with different personalities.
In both of these stories you can see some similarities like how they act. Both of them are greedy, being attracted to buried treasure. In my story El Culebron was guarding treasure until he sensed danger. In the story of El Culebron he is known for being very greedy and aggressive towards anyone who enters his territory not caring about anything else, just treasure. This shows how people can be affected by their greed.
In conclusion we see the similarities and differences throughout these stories, them both being greedy just wanting treasure but then one had a change of heart helping 5 sisters as they are in trouble. We can theme don't judge people based on looks.

The assistance of El Culebron
The sisters finally escape the nagual's cave, and they start running into the woods. They look around, wondering what to do. Odilia asked, "Do you have that flashlight, light, Juanita?" I want to look at the map. They are heading to their grandma's house and are starting to make their way over there. They all decide to start heading there now. Odilia is wondering what they will do when they meet their grandma.
Then they hear a deep growling noise surrounding them. Pita says, “Hey, what's that noise?” The girls look at each other, confused. Then they hear it, Growling. The girls are scared and don't know what to do. They look around their surroundings. They see 5 shadows moving in front of them. They don't know what they are, but they see red glowing eyes.
The sisters see a pack of wolves approaching them, surrounding them. They get ready, trying to defend themselves, then the first wolf attacks Odilia. She gets bitten, but was able to get the wolf away. Velia finds a large wooden stick on the ground and grabs it, defending herself. As the wolves are about to attack, they hear a loud hissing sound. Everyone gets scared when they see a big shadow moving really fast. The wolves are about to attack, then a little bunny runs out of the forest the wolves attack the bunny.
The bunny then transforms into a giant snake, catching the wolves off guard and attacking the wolves. The sisters get scared, but while the wolves are distracted, the sisters run, trying to get away from the danger. While they are running, they see a wolf still following them, then, as they catch their breath, the wolf goes to attack, but is eaten by the snake.
The sisters are scared of the snake, but he does nothing; they realize he is friendly. They show their gratitude by saying thank you. Though the snake can't talk, he nods in understanding what they are saying. Pita asks it to transform into a bunny, and the snake does it. Pita is amazed by its powers, Velia and Delia don't care, but they say their final goodbyes to the snake.
The snake nods in understanding. The sisters look at each other, confused, thinking that all of that happened in an instant. The snake slithers away the sisters pull out the map. Looking for a landmark to find where they are. They find their location, and now they start going, continuing their journey, getting ready for the adventures ahead.
