The comparison and contrast of the Pishtaco
Have you ever heard the story of the pishtaco? If you have not, it is an evil creature that skins people and sells them. I am trying to explain how the pishtaco from my story and the original are the same and different. My monster is modified, but it still retains some of the original elements of the beast, so it remains recognizable. In my story, there are many of them, but in the original, there is only one.
The first point I am trying to make is how they different some of the differences. You can see in the original: he would kill people to make money, and in my story, he killed someone to sell to the sisters. There are some differences in my story, like” When he got up, he was enraged and made a strange noise, a call to a monster.” This shows there are many of them, and they can call each other. but in the origanal there is only one . And at some time. It came to be believed that the pishtaco used the fat to make better church bells or polish the faces on the saints' statues.
Now that we have covered some of the differences, we can examine some similarities. Like how they are both evil, can transform, and share the same weaknesses. Here is some evidence to show some of the similarities. “We then grabbed our sticks and lit them on fire, killing the pishtaco” from my story, and in the original, “ guys, let's kill this thing as we all jumped onto it with our steel blades, stabbing and killing the beast. So now you've seen some of the similarities.
So now you see both the similarities and some differences. So now you can see how I modified this monster, but also kept some of it, so it is recognizable. I also saw the theme that even though things are similar, they can't be the same. It shows how something can change but still stay true to what it was. It’s about finding the balance between keeping things the same and making them new.

Odilia went to the store to buy food for the journey to Grandma's house, but in the store, there was a guy selling chicharrones, and he said, ” Here, take some of this home. Of course, I took some and left. I told my sisters and they seemed pretty happy but I said “we should share them with grandma so let's not eat them.
So we took a quick look around the town and spotted a farmers' market, so we stopped to see the same guy who had sold us the chicharones. We went to say thank you, but then,right as we reached him, he vanished. We looked for him, but then we saw la larona, and she said that guy is not who he seems. She then used magic to show us that he was evil.
We all then started to look for him to try to find out why he did that. Then we saw him with another person. He then made the other human fall asleep and tried to skin him, but we all launched at him just in time. We then saw him turn into a different form of a demon.
But sadly, we were too lax. He skinned the human, and what happened made us terrified. He cooked them and turned them into chicharones. We all took a closer look at our chicharon, but then we saw blood dripping from them, and we all screamed.
The pishtako saw us, and he started to charge. Into a strange, demon-like creature, he then pounced at us and hit Pita. We then had to save her, so we grabbed sticks and rocks. And prepared for a battle. The pishtaco tried to skin pita, but we were able to hit him with our weapons and knock him out.
When he got up, he was enraged and made a strange noise. La Llorona came to us and told us to go take shelter because the noise was actually a call to a monster, but thankfully, he didn't see us and left.
We then snuck behind the pishtaco and jumped on his back, bringing him to the floor. We then grabbed our sticks and lit them on fire and stabbed him in the heart, and then we dug them in with rocks.
The pishtaco let out one final scream before bursting into ash. The silence that followed felt sacred. No one spoke, just stood under the breaking dawn, bruised but alive. Together, they walked out of the town, into the light. Here is some evidence to show some of the similarities. In my story, “ showing his weakness is steel and in the original;
