Solution Summary

Connected Wall, unlike the standard N*N style of multi-vision, is a free style multi-vision solution that allows free style layout of displays.

Standard multi-visions are used in a way that the contents are played on the entire screen using a video wall display with a narrow bezel. However, this standard multi-vision is not cost effective for the following reasons.

    • A display must be installed in 16:9 ratio, so only a conventional form of a display works
    • Overall multi-vision costs become higher as the only video wall displays with a narrow bezel are required. This is quite expensive.
    • There is a limit to attracting visitors to have interests in the contents since the multi-vision layout is too typical.

Multi-visions with free style layout are becoming more popular in these days. For this type of a free style of multi-vision, it can split and encode a video file according to the placement of displays at various angles and uses the method of having a video to be synchronized by a player on the back side of a display.

In order to organize new contents, it is necessary to divide and encode the existing 4K high-definition video. So, it is not possible to update the contents in real time and it costs much more. And, because the high-resolution video gets divided into parts, the video compression ratio becomes different between the dark and bright parts, and the parts with a lot of motion and with little motion. Then, it makes different parts of a video cannot be synchronized precisely.

Connected Wall made by SoundGraph is a solution that solves the weaknesses of freestyle multi-visions with software. Connected Wall can be installed through the following procedures.

    1. Install proper free style multi-vision using various displays
    2. When the installation is completed, set the display layout with a smartphone on site
    3. Upload high-resolution contents to a cloud
    4. Frame player CW that is connected to each display and plays the video croped and rotated the origianl video in real-time with the software according to the corresponding display area and synchronizes the playback through the local network between the displays

As well as the bezel information of various displays, the distance between the displays can also be set with a smartphone, so that the connected contents can be synchronized and played regardless of the types, rotation, and layout of the display. Moreover, since all Frame Player CWs are synchronizing the same video file, the video played on the display can be precisely synchronized within a maximum latency of 8 ms.

With a ConnectedWall solution that can freely implement any type of display layouts, the maximum number of displays can be set up to 255 in a single space.

Solution Configuration

  • Display: Connected Wall can utilize not only video wall displays, but also different aspect ratios of displays.
  • Frame player CW: Connected Wall plays 4K videos easily and uses Frame Player CW that supports contents synchronization using a network.
  • Wired/Wireless Network Router&Hub: Connected Wall uses network to synchronize contents, so, compared to general digital menuboard or promotion board, it requires a expensive network equipment. Depending on the number of connecting Frame Player CW, the network is configured by wire using a router&hub to fit the required number of network ports.
  • Designated power switch: Connected Wall display, Frame Player CW, and wired/wireless network router are all connected to one power switch, and making it easy to simply turn the switch on and off like lighting.
