For Year 4 pupils who are capable in maths but not always being challenged in school

Who's this for?

This group is for children who:

• find most of their maths work quite easy

• finish quickly but don't always get pushed further

• need more challenge to stay engaged

• are capable of more than they're currently showing

What I focus on

I don't just give more work.

I focus on:

• stretching thinking

• asking better questions

• building deeper understanding

• helping children explain and justify their answers

The aim is to move them beyond just "getting it right" to actually understanding what they're doing. 

How sessions work:

• Small groups (so every child gets attention)

• Calm, relaxed environment

• Challenging work matched to the group

Sessions are designed to push children at the right level without overwhelming them.
