My reading sessions would take the form of a piece of text from either a book or from a comprehension piece and your child and I will read through the text first before tackling the questions relating to it. I would aim to help your child write a detailed answer to the question and explain to them how they could maximise their marks by structuring their answer in a way that gets them all the marks they possibly could for the question. The questions will take a variety of forms from basic retrieval questions to more complex inference and word meaning types that will improve both your child's reading ability and comprehension skills.
