Reading Support that Builds Confidence and Understanding
Reading is about much more than simply recognising words.
For many children, the challenge is confidence — hesitating over unfamiliar words, losing track of meaning, or not fully engaging with what they are reading.
Sessions are designed to build both fluency and understanding in a calm, supportive environment.
For younger or less confident readers, this includes a strong focus on phonics, helping children recognise sounds, blend words, and develop accuracy when reading. High-frequency words and spelling patterns are also reinforced to support both reading and writing.
I adapt in real time to how each child is reading — whether that means focusing on phonics, slowing things down, exploring meaning more deeply, or helping them approach unfamiliar words with more confidence.
This helps children become more comfortable, more accurate, and more engaged in their reading.
Over time, this leads to:
• Greater confidence when reading aloud
• Improved fluency and accuracy
• Better understanding of texts
• Stronger vocabulary and spelling
• A more positive attitude towards reading
The aim is not just to improve reading ability, but to help children feel confident and capable when approaching any text.
