Going on a leaf hunt...

Adele and Miles went hunting for leaves one morning then came back and did some rubbings of the leaves. They talked about the autumn colours and filled their page with lots of different leaves. Next, they practised their drawing skills! They looked closely at the leaves, chose the colours they thought matched best and then coloured them in. They also sorted the leaves into different categories - size, shape and colour.

Lots of fun!

Did you know that there are many benifits to playdoh?

  • Building fine motor skills: By manipulating the dough with your hands you are strengthening your hand muscles. The stronger the hand muscles the easier fine motor tasks such as, zipping, buttoning, and holding a pencil, will be.

  • Hand-eye cordination: Using a variety of tools such as cookie cutters and rolling pins to manipulate the dough in imaginative wasy helps develop hand-eye cordination.

  • Encourages creativity: Playdoh allows kids to use their imagination and create new ways of imagining how something looks.

  • Social skills: When working with an adult or peers students are engaging socially by sharing their creations, materials, and telling others about their creatation.

  • Calming: Being able to squish the dough can have a calming effect, by easing tension, releasing extra energy and expressing emotions.

  • Supports academics: Using playdoh or clay can also support academics in a fun creative ways.
