The music program is designed to provide interested students with opportunities to develop their talents through active participation in both vocal and instrumental performing groups. Each performing group offers students an opportunity to study the compositional elements and structure of music while exploring the creative concepts and profoundness of music. A passing grade in a one-year course in the fine arts, which may include courses in music or art, is required for graduation.

Description: Percussion Ensemble is a performance-based class offering students the chance to learn and play various percussion instruments. While previous enrollment in a band is helpful, it's not required, and beginners are welcomed. The course aims to foster individual growth within a team environment. Meeting daily for one semester, the Percussion Ensemble rehearses and performs a diverse range of percussion chamber ensemble literature. The course culminates in several concerts and parades throughout the semester, providing valuable performance opportunities for students.

Description: ‘Music in Society’ is a class that will present and study music as both the mirror of, and catalyst for social events throughout history. A wide variety of topics will be explored, chosen from suggestions made by class members. Materials used will be taken from current periodic literature, Internet sources and selections from texts, which address the issues selected for discussion. Students will research topics, write short opinion papers, debate/discuss issues, and listen to a wide variety of music in class and for homework. Projects will involve presenting and analyzing works of individual choosing. (NO music with parental advisory labels will be permitted).
