At Somers High School, The Capstone Experience will provide juniors with the opportunity to explore an area of personal interest. In order to demonstrate the 21st Century skills needed to succeed in an ever-changing global society, students will be required to plan, complete, and present a self-directed culminating project. Under the guidance of a Capstone Advisor, students will focus on critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and communicating effectively.
Depending on the student’s medium of choice, examples of possible Capstone Experience culminating projects might be: a fundraising project, a creative project, a community service project, an internship or another advisor approved format. Outside community involvement is also required. A graded .5 credit will be given for course work and a Pass/Fail .5 credit will be given for the presentation of the final project.
