Some national tour operators will offer tours or services to Oni, especially during high season. Though there are no packaged tours published or marketed online from within the destination, the Tourism Cluster of Oni lists eleven (11) local guides and tour service providers, including horseback riding, car or minivan tours and transportation, camping and trekking guides. Similar to the guest houses, it's more about word of mouth, who you know, and simply asking. In many cases, the hosting family will either fill the role of guide or will connect their guests to a guide. During the “Development of tourism and entrepreneurship in Zemo Racha” project (GIZ, 2015-17), nine (9) individuals became certified hiking guides through the Mountain Guides Association. The opportunity is available to create and sell packaged tours, such as “Horseback and Overnight Camping at Lake Udziro” or “Caves and Waterfalls of Oni,” with descriptions, photos, and price per person published in marketing materials. In addition, the Adventure Tourism School expansion to Racha will engage young people and get them interested in mountain tourism jobs.
Cultural and creative industries make cities more attractive places for both residents and visitors. Inclusive activities in the creative economy fill the hearts and minds of travelers with an emotional experience they will not easily forget after visiting a new destination. These experiences can lead to more spending, a higher rate of tourist satisfaction, and loyalty. Tourists now seek immersive experiences, including: hands on crafting, dancing and singing along with performers, and learning to cook alongside locals - which promotes slow food and the value of leisurely dining as opposed to fast food. Community cohesion, belonging and adaptive reuse are elements of not only creating beautiful products, but also sustaining the stories, rituals and practices that define who we are as a society.
