RATIONALE:
The SNPS believes that for its graduates to meet the required skills of the 21st century workplace, such as high literacy and analytical skills, its students must develop strong reading habits to enhance these skills. Hence, the SNPS Library Period Program is designed to develop among students and faculty a culture of reading that helps foster analytical thinking, innovation, creativity and positive learning habits to increase their interest in literature and their enthusiasm to investigate existing body of knowledge on any given subject of interest. The program is backed up by a rich supply of both printed and electronic resources available that may help students to have a successful learning experience in support of the curriculum. The program supports the fact that knowledge and skills gained through reading are crucial to form a strong foundation for lifelong learning. The program gives both the students and faculty the opportunity to increase their interests in any discipline and body of knowledge.
General Objectives:
Enhance building up certain reading habits and skills among student;
Provide rational access to information through learning activities that are included in the curriculum;
Guide students to be competent and responsible users of knowledge and information and to be effective readers and learners.
Encourage subject teacher to freely utilize the use of library by preparing lessons, activities and research works.
