6th Grade History and English/Language Arts
I am originally from Wrightwood, CA. I attended Wrightwood Elementary, American School of Asuncion Paraguay, Nimitz Middle School (San Antonio, Texas), and Serrano High School. While at Serrano I was very involved in student government, the Cross Country team, and the Golf team. I graduated from BYU-Hawaii with my BA in English Education and minors in Spanish and Psychology. I received my Masters in Educational Leadership from BYU and also completed graduate classes in English Composition from Cal State San Bernardino.
In my 26 years of teaching, I have had the opportunity to teach at nearly every grade level. I completed my student teaching at Kahuku High School in Hawaii and then went on to teach 7th, 9th, and 11th grades at Liahona Middle School and High School in the island nation of Tonga. I have also taught Freshman English classes at BYU-Hawaii, Spanish at Serrano High School, English classes to young children at Line Up language school in KaoHsiung, Taiwan, and Language Arts and Spanish classes at Quail Valley Middle School.
I am fluent in Spanish and had the opportunity to spend 2 years helping migrant farm worker families in Eastern Washington.
I am excited to be part of the Heritage family. I hope to help instill a desire for all students to have their own adventures as they pursue their academic and life goals. I truly believe that each individual has the ability to make a difference in the lives of others, and I am eager to help our Heritage students realize their potential.
