Come learn more and get help on your applications
Be prepared for a lengthy application process. There are two steps- both an Online Application portion and a paper application process. Please allow and be aware that the application will take a 5-7 Business days to complete. Please follow the steps below!
If you have not taken a class at Palomar College before, you must create an OpenCCC account first (click on Create an Account at the link mentioned above and follow the instructions).
Once you create your account, you can proceed with the application. Answer the series of questions and watch the video below to help you answer the questions on the application.
Once you have completed your application, you will receive your Palomar Student ID number via email (it will take up to 48 hours). Keep this number in a safe place as you will need it to complete Step #2 of the application process. Save the email too.
Make sure to use your legal name on the college application.
All courses dates, times and format are subject to change.
Watch this video to learn how to fill out the application and answer all the questions!
The paper application consists of:
Palomar College Special Admission Form & the SMUSD Agreement Form
Make sure both forms are complete with all required signatures, initials and your required Palomar College Student ID Number.
Packets missing any information will delay processing your enrollment.
New Student Orientation
Orientation is mandatory for new Palomar College students.
Go to www.palomar.edu/orientation to complete your orientation online once you've completed all the steps above. It should take less than an hour. You will need your account information (which you set-up in Step #1 to log-in).
You will need proof of completion. Be sure to print out the certificate, take screen shot or take a picture of it on your phone.
Palomar College will enroll you
Once your paperwork is submitted and complete, Palomar College will officially enroll you into the course. You do not need to go to the Palomar campus to enroll. The course will appear on your fall high school schedule.
Be sure to know the times/dates of your particular course.
Mandatory Orientation at SMHS
Be on the lookout for a MANDATORY meeting one week before the start of your course during student lunch in the Future Center or Theater. This meeting will provide you with the next steps on how to start your course, Canvas, and classroom number for any in person courses.
Please note: You will get access to Canvas on the starting date of your course (or 1 day before, depending on your professor). Also be prepared to pick up your textbooks at the SMHS Library one day prior to the course start date.
Completed packets should be submitted to Ms. Heidi in the Future Center
