Hi! I’m Mrs. Annette Bailey, and I am so excited to be your 3rd grade teacher!
All About Me
I was born and raised in Escondido. I grew up on an exotic animal farm also in Escondido, with 9 siblings including my twin sister.
I graduated from San Pasqual High school before earning my degree and teaching credential from the University of San Diego. I later completed my Master’s degree in Education.
I met my husband of 30 years in high school. We have 4 daughters; Amanda, in her last 4 months of Nursing at Texas Christian University in Fort Worth, Texas; Jessica, a Junior at Cal State San Marcos studying Art History; Danielle, a freshman studying nursing in Tennessee; Savannah, a Junior at SMHS, and Oliver (Ollie), who joined our family Christmas 2020.
I was hired by SMUSD in 1996 where I taught until 2004. During those years, I taught 3rd, 6th, 2nd, and 4th at Woodland Park and Twin Oaks Elementary Schools.
I was a stay-at- home mom for our 4 daughters for 9 years and went back to teaching at San Elijo Elementary School and Richland Elementary School when our youngest started TK.
All our daughters attended DPS since its opening.
I’ve been at DPS since 2017, where I taught for 8 1/2 years in 3rd, 5th grade, and a ⅘ combo. I am so excited to be back in 3rd grade where I started 30 years ago!
Teaching Philosophy
My biggest goal for our classroom is to create a place where every single student feels safe, cared for, accepted, appreciated, challenged, and seen. I want you to know that you belong here and that you matter.
In our classroom, we are a class family. We take care of each other, cheer each other on, help each other when things are hard, and celebrate each other’s successes. We know that everyone is different, and that is what makes our classroom special. We will make mistakes, learn from them, laugh together, and grow together. Most importantly, we will make sure everyone feels comfortable being themselves and never feels judged.
I believe that every child can learn and succeed. My promise to you is that I will always do my very best to help you grow, believe in yourself, and become the best version of YOU. I will encourage you when things feel difficult, challenge you when you are ready to stretch yourself, celebrate your successes, and remind you of just how capable you are.
Third grade is going to be a year full of learning, growing, laughing, trying new things, and making memories. My hope is that you make the most of every minute of our year together and leave third grade feeling proud of how far you have come, excited about what you can accomplish, and ready for fourth grade and all the wonderful years ahead.
We are a team. We are a class family. We look out for one another; we believe in one another, and we want everyone to succeed. And I can't wait to see all that you will become!
