Your Smith College account (username and password) provides secure access to various applications and services, depending on your role at Smith.
As a Smith account holder, you agree to abide by the college’s Acceptable Use Policy for all technology resources.
Note for newly hired employees: You will receive temporary Workday login credentials to begin the onboarding process first, then receive Smith account credentials once onboarding is complete.
For all new account holders, your Smith Account information and initial log in instructions will be sent to your non-Smith email address.
Next, you must reset your temporary password to a secure, permanent one that is known by only you.
Select this link (smith.edu/changepass) and log in with the temporary password provided in your email.
Follow the instructions on the page to reset your password. Password must be 14 characters or more. To select a strong password, follow our Password guidance.
The next page will either display "Success" or "Try Again".
Next, it is required to enroll with Duo for secure two-factor authentication.
Once you have enrolled your device with Duo, you will be able to log in to Smith applications using your Smith Account.
Your account provides access to the following applications and services:
Smith email and email address, <username>@smith.edu through Google.
Note: You can access your mail in several ways including through the portal, via portal.smith.edu, mail.smith.edu, or gmail.com. Gmail.com locations require you to enter your full email address (username@smith.edu) and your password to log in.

Your account does not provide access to Workday.
Note for returning students: If you have taken a class in a previous semester, your Smith account will be reactivated automatically after registering for a new class. Look for an email notifying you that your account is active, along with instructions for changing your password if you don't remember it.

If this is the first time you have registered for a class at Smith, an email with your Smith Network login information will be sent to your college email address. Please check your email spam folder if you have not received that information before classes begin.
Note: Use your home institution credentials (not your Smith Account) to access Moodle.
Visit Smith’s Registration page for information on auditing classes. Auditors have a Smith account login and password but do not have a Smith Google account or email address. You will use your Smith account to access Moodle. When your Smith Moodle account has been created, you will receive an email notification in your personal email account.

Alums may request a Smith forwarding email address, but they do not have a regular Smith account. Smith graduates can request an alum OneCard anytime after they graduate. Learn more about alum resources.

Make sure your current personal email address is on file to receive updates from Smith and ensure access to benefits. You can do this through The Network, the Contact Information webform, by emailing smithierecords@smith.edu, or by calling 413-585-2036. Your Smith username is the sequence of characters in your email address before the "@" symbol. To make any changes to your account username, send a request to ithelp@smith.edu.
Reasons to do so include if you:
Have legally changed your name.
Want your preferred name initial(s) to be reflected in your username.
This change may require a few days to take effect after the request has been processed.
Note: If you are a Five College student, change your name at your home institution before submitting the change to Smith.
