This should be mostly review from previous math and science classes, so we will not spend a lot of time on it. Please complete the reading on Topic 1.1 (Tsokos p.1-5) by the next lesson. If you want to go over anything in class, post your questions to the Google Chat room!
Learning Objectives:
I can~
Use SI units in the correct format for all required measurements, final answers to calculations and presentation of raw and processed data
Use scientific notation and metric multipliers
Quote and compare ratios, values and approximations to the nearest order of magnitude
Estimate quantities to an appropriate number of significant figures
Handouts:
In Topic 1.2, we consider how sure we can be of any measurements that we make, and what happens when we perform calculations involving measurements and their uncertainties. In the first lesson, we define our terms and discuss our approach to scientific measurement.
Youtube Lecture 1
Vectors are both essential to understanding Physics and confusing for a lot of students. In topic 1.3, we introduce vectors and the trigonometry that you will need to understand them. If you can recall SOHCAHTOA from previous math classes, you'll be fine. Extended Math students should recall vectors from last year.
