CTE FAQ's
Welcome to the SMFHS CTE FAQ Site.
This is a list of common questions asked by CTE students and families.
What's the best way to get the most accurate information?
Due to the nature of the school restart plan, it is important for you to get information from first hand sources. In normal years, relying on talking to a friend at school would be okay. The extent of individual plans of students this year will make it difficult to get info from secondary sources, like your friends. Please rely on your teachers, administrators, in school counselors for the latest accurate information at all times.
What's the best way to ask a question if I'm confused?
Simply email Ms. Paul at st_paul@smfcsd.org, Mr. Treen at st_treen@smfcsd.org and the technology instructors of your specific program.
When do CTE programs start?
Please reference the Compact Welcome Letter.
What is the primary method of communication?
We will be using Final Forms as a means of communication for the year. Simply check your email for mass communications when warranted.
How does transportation work?
Compact transportation runs 5 days a week. Simply be at the high school (by car or by bus) in the AM (prior to 7:10 am) and report to the back parking lot. For PM programs, transportation is provided and this is located at the front parking lot.
I am an out of district student and it's my first day. What do I do?
Ms. Paul, school counselor, will be meeting students upon the transfer bus arriving at SMFHS. At that time, we will be reviewing how to sign in for the day and report to the specific program.
My son or daughter is sick. What do I do?
This is a great question. Make sure you call both school sites and follow the individual school policy. As a Compact, we lack a coherent reporting system across district lines. This means you must make two phone calls when calling off. At SMFHS, junior status parents call Mrs. Britton at 330-689-5216 and senior status parents call Mrs. Clark at 330-689-5215.
How do accessing grades work at the CTE school?
If you are a SMFHS student attending SMFHS CTE programs, grades show up as usual under your unique login. If you are a SMFHS student attending another non-SMFHS program, you will be issued another set of credentials at that school. Please contact that school's lead CTE contact to gain that information. All students attending SMFHS programs will sign in with the school issued @smfschools.org username and password under the ProgressBook link.
My student is struggling and I need help. Help me?!
Start by emailing the program instructor will the assistance needs to happen. Our CTE instructors are committed to your success and want to assist. If no communication is returned, please email Mr. Treen at st_treen@smfcsd.org
I have my own car and valid drivers permit. What do I do?
If you are a SMFHS student, please log onto Final Forms and complete the Parking Pass form and follow up with your grade level secretary. If you are an out of district student, you will also need to access your parking pass information on Final Forms. We accept all valid compact school parking permits.
How do I apply?
Program application period typically starts in January of the following calendar year. Your student must pay attention to the announcements for any additional information. The program application will be live at that time at sixdistrict.com
