About the Program

The Aeronautics Careers Academy is a two-year career tech program housed at Stow-Munroe Falls High School.  Students study Introduction to Aeronautics, Aviation Weather, Elements of Flight Theory, and Unmanned Aircraft Systems. The program can lead to a bachelor's or associate’s degree in aeronautics and also prepares students for on-the-job training right out of high school.  The most important goal of the program is to provide students with practical experiences in the field of aviation through hands-on activities in the classroom, field trips, and direct contact with professionals working in aviation. Our students have the opportunity to meet and work with air traffic controllers, aircraft mechanics, aerospace engineers, pilots, and airport managers.  In class, students will build and launch rockets, create and test airfoils, spend time on flight and ATC simulators, and fly drones.
