BECA is always seeking new local scholarships to add to the 60 scholarships, worth over $250,000, currently available through our application process. By partnering with us, you, as a scholarship provider, will be joining the primary system that students use to apply for local scholarships in St. Mary’s County. This partnership allows you to reach hundreds of students actively seeking scholarship opportunities.
Wider Reach: By joining BECA's St. Mary's County Common Scholarship Application, you’ll have access to a broad pool of applicants without the need for additional promotion on your part.
Customizable Requirements: Depending on how broad or specific your scholarship criteria are, you could receive anywhere from a few to over 150 applications. BECA will provide you with the tools to select the most deserving students. For example, we will make an Excel sheet you can sort to narrow down your applicant pool.
Community Recognition: Your organization will be recognized for its contributions to the community.
Timeline Alignment: Please review our CALENDAR to ensure that your timeline aligns with ours.
Review Past Applications: To get a sense of the information you’ll receive from applicants, please review the ELECTRONIC APPLICATION from last year. This will include detailed information on each student, including contact details, academic plans, extracurricular activities, work experience, and more.
Simple Setup: If you decide to join, you'll need to complete a one-page form outlining your scholarship requirements. We will provide you with examples from last year to guide you. Click THIS LINK to see what providers used last year. Note that scholarships in the "A" group require no additional materials, while those in the "B" group all request a specific essay or other information.
Who Can Apply?
The application is open to a wide range of students, including those in public, private, and home schools within St. Mary’s County and beyond. Some scholarships are also available to current college students, though the primary applicants are graduating high school seniors.
Is There a Cost to Participate?
Participation is free. We suggest a $10 donation per listed scholarship, with a maximum suggested donation of $50, though this is not required.
Is There a Minimum Scholarship Amount?
No. Current scholarships range from $500 to $25,000.
Do I Need Advanced Computer Skills?
No. While we use an online forms-based system, we provide full support and training if needed. Last year, only one provider requested paper applications, and we were able to accommodate them successfully.
