BECA Timeline 2025

January

15, Wednesday--The application is available at the BECA website www.smcbeca.org

29, Wednesday--IN PERSON: BECA’s Scholarship Fair from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Located at the USMSM (former Higher Education Center) 

As early as possible in January--

• Locate a method to scan all Supporting Information documents into a single pdf. This is required for the application. Don’t wait until the last minute. Schools and Public Libraries have high speed scanners.

•  Request Letters of Recommendation from an academic person and a community person who know you well. BECA does not accept confidential letters.

• You should file your FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) right away so you will have your FAFSA Submission Summary (FSS) in time to complete the Common Scholarship Application. Go to http://www.fafsa.gov.) 

March

3, Monday

• On or Before midnight, Monday, March 3, 2025.  All parts of the application are due and are submitted electronically. No paper documents accepted.See how to submit your information in the Checklist, #6, on the next page.

15, Saturday

• By this date, BECA copies and distributes your application to scholarship providers where you have indicated you wish to apply. During April, the individual providers select the winners of their scholarships and notify them. Interviews of finalists will be held by some scholarship providers. You should frequently check the email address and voice mail number you provided for requests for interviews and notification of awards.

April

15, Tuesday

• Scholarship Providers will notify students of their award on or before this date. See the Awards Page for a list of scholarship providers who have notified BECA of their selection.

May

14, Wednesday

• Scholarship Awards Ceremony, located at the USMSM (former Higher Education Center) from 4:00 to 6:30pm. All students who have been notified of an award are invited and will be recognized even if their scholarship provider cannot attend. Students should use the RSVP form sent in email. The number of guests per student is not limited. Presenters and students should arrive by 4:00 pm to sign in. The ceremony will begin at 4:30 pm.
