Lesson Objectives
- Strengthen your observational skills.
- Interpret the environment through photography by finding alphabet characters in man made and natural objects.
- Apply the rule of composition SIMPLIFY to find photographs of letters.
- Be aware of the design principles of positive and negative space; making the letter the focal point of the picture.
ASSIGNMENT: Take one photograph for each of the letters in the alphabet. The alphabet must be a "found" letter through observation. You may not use actual letters for this assignment.
- Find all 26 letters.
- Create a separate document in Google Docs or something similar and create your found alphabet then create/spell a word using your found alphabet.
- The word should be easily read. Letters could be equally spaced apart leaving a white space or close together, BUT the word must be clearly visible.
- The word must be formatted and ready for presentation. There should be an even white border (like a frame) around the word.
- If you do not have access to a camera you can find letters from the web, save and paste them in a Google Doc, cut out images that look like letters from magazines, store flyers, catalogs, or mail and glue down to another piece of paper or draw them but remember each letter must look different.
