Clarinet

Things to consider in choosing to play the clarinet:  

• Hands large enough to reach all the keys and fingertips large enough to cover the tone holes

• Generally, braces are not a hindrance in forming a correct embouchure

• Small motor coordination is very important

Materials you will need: 

• Bb (B-flat) Clarinet 

• Reeds - beginning students should start on a size 2  reed. It is recommended to start with a box of reeds and replace as necessary. 

• Cleaning swab

• Cork grease

• Method Book - Essential Elements for Band, Book 1. This can be purchased at a music store or ordered online. Make sure the book says Clarinet in the upper right hand corner of the cover.
