On Wednesday, Sept. 24, during the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), President Donald Trump delivered a fiery speech accusing western countries of “going to hell” due to migration and claiming that climate change is a “con job,” among other claims.
At the beginning of his speech, he made a nod to the teleprompter, which had been broken due to unknown reasons, stating, “I don’t mind making this speech without a teleprompter because the teleprompter is not working. I feel very happy to be up here with you; nevertheless, that way, you speak more from the heart.”
Though the teleprompter would be fixed, Trump did not mind speaking without it.
He then proceeded to boast on how “The US is hot,” how his first administration brought “the greatest economy in the history of the world,” and how “America is respected again like it never has been respected before.”
In addition, he claimed to have ended ‘seven unendable wars,’ and while he has hosted peace talks between Armenia and Azerbaijan after nearly 40 years of conflict, Trump has not managed to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. India rejects the idea that Trump was the one who ended its short lived conflict with Pakistan, Iran, and Israel’s ceasefire was negotiated by Qatar, and during Trump’s administration, neither Sokovo and Serbia nor Egypt and Ethiopia were technically in a war against each other.
After this, Trump decried a broken escalator he took while in the UN building, and through it, vented his grievances with the UN, saying that it has not lived up to its potential, how its members merely “write a strongly worded letter and then never follow that letter up.”
He followed up with a call to cease recognition of Palestine, calling it a reward to Hamas terrorists, despite the US being in the minority of not recognizing Palestine as a state.
Trump then denounced NATO for continuing imports from Russia, saying that it was “funding the war against themselves,” though the imports are being done on a degree far lesser than before the war, while the US continues to import products such as fertilizer
He then called for an end to biological weapons, citing the COVID-19 pandemic as a reason, despite its origins still being hotly debated. He added that his administration would lead an effort to enforce the Biological Weapons Convention through an AI verification system, and hopes that the UN will play a constructive role.
Trump then decried the immigration policies of Europe, claiming that they were destroying their heritage and their countries by letting in foreigners, thanking the country of El Salvador for helping them deport “criminals,” even though some of the deportees were not from El Salvador and did not appear to be criminals. Furthermore, the deportees are held in a prison with appalling living conditions.
He then said that “It’s time to end the failed experiment of open borders. You have to end it now. I can tell you. I’m really good at this stuff. Your countries are going to hell.”
He claimed that his refusal of immigration saved “tremendous numbers of lives,” and that the American public agrees with it, resulting in higher poll numbers, even though his approval rating merely rose to 40% from 37%, both of which are very low ratings
He then revealed that he had been using the US military to destroy Venezuelan terrorists and smuggling networks, despite not having permission from the UN and not knowing whether or not it violated international law.
Afterwards, he said that renewable energy was “a joke” as they were too expensive and could not supply enough energy to “fire up the plants you need to make your country great.”
He then said that “All green is all bankrupt,” that climate change is “the greatest con job ever perpetrated in the world,” in his opinion, and that the UN’s predictions were “wrong, made by stupid people that have cost their countries fortunes and given those same countries with no chance for success.”
He then said that “I’m really good at predicting things, you know?...I don’t say that in a braggadocious way, but it’s true,” followed by expressing his concerns for Europe in its affiliation with green energy and immigration.
Afterwards, he returned to the matter of immigration, piling it with the matter of clean energy, urging countries to take control of “the unmitigated immigration disaster and the fake energy catastrophe before it’s too late.”
He then questioned the need for fighting against climate change, reasoning that since China emits more carbon, the rest cannot do anything about it, as well as claiming that environmentalists “want to kill all the cows,” despite there being no plans to do so.
In a similar vein, he questioned the need for the prevention of littering, citing the trash from Asia that flows to Los Angeles as a reason not to do so, despite the certain adverse effects that will result from that line of thinking.
He then said that European electric bills were higher by four to five times higher compared to China, and two to three times higher compared to the US, with US bills decreasing, despite evidence to the contrary. He then said that Europe had a higher heat-related death count compared to the US, 175,000 to 1,300, all because they could not open their air conditioning due to higher electric costs brought about by green energy, ignoring the fact that climate change helped bring about the 175,000 deaths.
He mentioned a “little standing order in the White House-never use the word 'coal,' only 'clean, beautiful coal.” Saying that it sounds much better.
In the end, Trump reiterated his stance on matters: immigration must be curbed, and green energy is destroying a large part of the free world. He concluded with “You need strong borders and traditional energy sources if you are going to be great again.”
