Gianina Lexine Paguio

Gianina Paguio is the Sports Editor of The Marynette. All sports-related contents and articles of the school paper are under her care.

Before becoming the Sports Editor for this Academic Year 2025-2026, she had been the Sports Editor for the previous two years; operating the Sports Section since 2023.

The 11th-Grade HUMSS Student had been joining school-based competitions outside the organization, and last year, won 1st place in all the following contests: Buwan ng Wika’s Pagsulat ng Sanaysay, Radyo Drama, and Pag-ulat ng Balita, alongside English Month’s Declamation and News Reporting. In the same year, she placed fifth in BaCiPriSA’s Declamation contest. Also writing screenplays for short films, winning also last year in the Grade 10 Filipino Film Fest for best screenplay for ‘Pangimaiyo’; and the scriptwriter for the award-winning and Pingkian champion—‘Trahedya De Boda’.

All of these and other similar experiences, as well as her early interests in reading and writing at a young age, and the dream that pulled the 16-year-old Editor into being a sports writer—to experience being a courtside reporter—have curated her abilities despite starting on unfamiliar grounds. Using these skills to grow as The Marynette’s sports writer, from simply writing articles to on-the-field stints, covering live games of school events, and was sent to the previously held SigLaro last school year.
