Rayah Samantha Garcia
Opinion Editor
Rayah Garcia is the current chief opinions editor of The Marynette, where she oversees both column and editorial pieces, as well as letters to the editor.
She had first joined The Marynette as a subordinate for the science section in 2022, when outputs were kept at a minimum with barely any publication occurring due to the campus being in its awkward transition phase as an after-effect brought on by the pandemic. There, she discovered her impartiality to science writing and subsequently decided to take a one-year hiatus from campus journalism.
With her commitment and ardor to writing recharged, Garcia returned to The Marynette as a columnist in 2024. During her time as a subordinate, she developed her knack for tackling campus-based topics, written like true musings straight from the heart of an overtired yet impassioned student—wrapped in the disguises of comedic attempt and sincerity. Specializing in student life, she aims to be a voice for her fellow schoolmates, firmly reinforcing that every opinion should be heard.
Garcia joined under the Column Writing category in the 2025 Baliwag City Clustered Schools Press Conference (CSPC); however, she was unsuccessful in securing a place for the following phase. Still, she remained determined as a writer and continues to strive for journalistic excellence to this day.
Being promoted to chief opinions editor in the same year, she is intent on ensuring that no voice is left unheard, whether belonging to her or her subordinates, in hopes of creating a space where every word counts and is deemed as a perspective to be imprinted in the minds of many.
