Notes to Remember
14 February, 2026 | By Adrian Arceo
With radiant lights and a room full of elegant outfits, the SMCB Junior-Senior Promenade transformed its venue into a place truly fitting for its theme, Whimsical Gardenia. Yet beyond this enchanting atmosphere, the night came alive through music—delivered by two very talented groups, Da Caravan and Has-Band, who took the stage and set the mood with every note played.
Opening the musical showcase was Da Caravan, a group of talented Grade 10 students. The band began with a short segment of the song “Hey Barbara,” using the song to introduce each member individually.
Following the introductions, Da Caravan officially began their set with “Yakap,” a song that showed the blend of the two main vocalists and featured a guitar solo that caught everyone’s attention. Energy levels continued to rise as they performed “Still Into You,” a fan-favorite pop-rock song that had both students and personnel singing along.
Maintaining their momentum, Da Caravan wrapped up their performance with “Buwan,” an OPM song that once again showcased the abilities of their male vocalist through a very strong delivery. The song also featured another jaw-dropping guitar solo delivered perfectly by their lead guitarist, bringing their set to a powerful and satisfying ending.
Despite the audience remaining seated during the performance—due to it taking place during the program’s dining segment—crowd engagement was still at an all-time high. Their performance added more to the simple act of eating with friends.
Taking the stage some time after Da Caravan, Has-Band was the musical bridge between the formal program and the opening of the dance ball, set at the heart of the event. The Grade 11 students performed five songs in total, each carefully sequenced to shift the event’s atmosphere to its climax.
They opened with “Pag-ibig ay Kanibalismo II,” a current hit in the Philippines. Without any verbal introduction for each of the members, the band went straight into action, immediately capturing the audience’s attention with the song’s extended instrumental rendition.
This was followed by “Sundo,” a classic song by Imago with a catchy chorus that emphasized the blend of both vocalists. For their third segment, Has-Band used “Torete,” a song they had played in previous performances, as a transition to their next song, “Come Inside of My Heart,” a lively and upbeat song with a guitar solo at the end.
Before the closing prayer, the band performed another song by Imago, “Ewan,” which fit perfectly before the pause in the program.
Finally, Has-Band concluded with “Mundo,” a signature song in their performances. Known for its high vocals and an iconic guitar solo, the song served perfectly both as the end to their set and a powerful cue for the official opening of the dance ball.
By the closing parts of their last song, many people had already stood up, filled with energy, which was a perfect set-up for the party.
The impact of the band’s setlist that night extended beyond the venue itself. Imago, the original band behind “Sundo” and “Ewan,” even shared the group’s performance on their official Instagram page.
In an interview with the main vocalist of the band, Chryseis Leila Sempio, stated that they never expected one of their favorite bands to recognize their performance, let alone post it as well.
Overall, the performances of both Da Caravan and Has-Band were highlights of the Junior-Senior promenade, playing a big role in the success of the night. They proved that music can spark excitement and engagement between people.
Through their musical prowess, both bands not only complemented the whimsical-gardenia theme but also made sure that the night ended on a high note, leaving lasting memories for everyone in the venue to remember.
