Beginning of a Songbook
01 February, 2026 | By Diantha Gabriel Linao
Not every note was written perfectly, nor every band was synchronized flawlessly. There will always be mismatched tunes, dissonant harmonies, and untimed pitches. Yet, it is the beauty of trying once again that counts.
To continue picking up your instrument and keep practicing is a different kind of strength. The courage to keep standing once more despite what setbacks push you back is something admirable, never to be looked down on.
This Generation Band was no exception. Formed by different students of various grade levels, life seemed to go opposite to expectations. Founded by talented Ignacian Marians, they have their own difficulties too.
It was a struggle with how to match their schedule with each other, finding a comfortable time to rehearse with one another for the upcoming events. Yet they kept holding on to their instruments, clinging on despite complication after complication.
For the effort they put in, they did not go unrewarded for their persistence. It was their attitude that allowed them to last together as a band for a whole year, continuing to present their performances.
To the eyes of the audience, this band may only be a group of student musicians, grouped only to perform. But This Generation Band is more than that. It is a family, brought together by their abilities in music.
It was not a band born from one place; it was one born from the different fragments of its members. This was the meeting point of their fates, intertwining to give life to the band as a whole, influencing both their lives and the listeners of their music.
That was their opportunity to showcase their talents and meet each other, creating new memories that they later look back on in their lives. They made their time with each other something to be enjoyed and appreciated.
That marks the start of something memorable. The cause of various experiences, shared moments, and lessons learned. As pages are collected, each thickens it. Brimming with memories, melodies, and echoes—filling each year with new laughter and experiences.
It’s the beginning of a songbook. One that will last generations—one that will go on even with new faces, carrying the same harmonies that the previous have composed, continuing what a group of students first created.
There will still be concerts, performances, and music to listen to. This Generation Band will still play on stage, hoping to inspire the youth to follow in its steps and create their own music, even if the members change.
With their own hands, they will write another page. The beginning of one can be the beginning of many more. They will continue to write despite the setbacks that they face.
And after that, there will be songbooks full of memories, all started from the beginning of one note, then another, until each page is written with melodies.
When you keep choosing to persist, it is bound to be worth the surprise in the end, because it is the fruit of your dedication and effort. One that you are deserving of—as you chose to keep chasing.
