Parents as Partners
At St Mark’s Nursery, we greatly value the partnership of our parents as we work to provide the best learning experiences both in our nursery and at home for our children. In addition to the in-person events we hold like our Stay, Play and Learn and BookBug sessions we continually consult with our parents on our practices to ensure our next steps are informed by the voices of our stakeholders.
Our Stay, Play and Learn sessions are opportunities for family members to come into nursery and play alongside their child. These planned sessions take place once a term and are a huge success with our children and families.
Bookbug Sessions are a great way to engage families in a nursery or early years setting. Our Bookbug sessions build relationships with families, strengthen the links between learning at nursery and home and help promote how stories, songs and rhymes support children’s brain development (emotional, thinking, language and literacy skills) with parents and carers.
In St Mark's Nursery, we share weekly Bookbug stories and rhymes through our online platform - Learning Journals. We also invite our families into nursery for in person Bookbug sessions every month. These are always great fun with lots of songs and stories shared.
