We were delighted with the outcome of our recent inspection by The Care Inspectorate in January 2025.
Please take some time to read our report.
Our Nursery Handbook provides all up to date information about our nursery.
SIMOA the elephant was introduced by the Care Inspectorate to all Early Years and Childcare settings to raise awareness and act responsibly to safeguard, protect and support children’s wellbeing.
In St Mark's Nursery we pride ourselves on our SIMOA awareness. We have our SIMOA mascot who reminds us about how to keep safe when we are at nursery and at home. Some of our children are SIMOA champions, who help raise awareness and remind their peers of how to remain safe in nursery. We have daily discussions about SIMOA in nursery with dedicated discussion time during our 'Chat on the Mat' sessions. Our children have created a SIMOA song for when we are accessing our local community. SIMOA can be used in a wide range of ways from closing doors, ensuring food is not too hot to preventing accidents. The SIMOA campaign helps us to ensure the wellbeing and safety of our children.
The Duty of Candor affects all health, social work and care services. It means that services must take specific steps to carry out their duty of candour when a serious adverse event happens. They will need to let the people affected know, offer to meet with them, and apologise.
HGIOELC stands for How Good is Our Early Learning and Childcare, and it is the Early Years framework in Scotland since 2016. It’s made up of 15 quality indicators (QIs) and organised into three different key areas: Leadership and Management; Learning Provision; Successes and Achievements.
In St Mark's Nursery, we use the HGIOELC Framework as a means of self evaluation to inform our continuous improvement journey to ensure we continue to provide opportunities for your child to reach their full potential.
