Let’s Introduce Anxiety Management – LIAM aims to help our young people discover ways of dealing with their anxiety and related problems and to implement strategies.
“I felt comfortable while talking about my issues and was given the help I needed (eg calming techniques) to lesson my problems. Overall, I feel I’m in a much better place as a result of this care.” - Pupil feedback
Multi agency event in partnership with Active School SLC and NHS Lanarkshire. This provided staff from across the authority an opportunity to access available resources and support that is delivered by numerous organisations.
At St Andrew’s and St Bride’s High School, we have been very fortunate to work in partnership with Canine Concern and their Therapy Dogs. They deliver support for the mental health of our young people and staff. They provide unconditional attention and comfort to those who need it, as well as allowing pupils to develop their literacy skills and performance throughout the school.
“This is why I love coming to school. I feel confident now to stand up in class and read in front of everyone. I love English now.” - S2 Pupil involved with the Therapet support.
We have provided appropriate training to over 40 senior pupils to establish an effective support programme to a number of our vulnerable pupils. They also work closely with the Mental Health First Aid trained staff.
“Being able to talk to an older pupil has helped her to feel happier and more settled in school. Opening up to her Buddy has helped her feel more confident when discussing her feelings with her family. It has been a really positive experience.” - Parent of S1 pupil involved in the Buddy Programme.
