About the AASL Standards Framework

The American Association for School Librarians (AASL) Standards Framework is made up of learner, school librarian, and school library standards.

Learner AASL Standards

According to the AASL Learner Pamphlet:

"The AASL Standards framework is anchored by six Shared Foundations-- Inquire, Include, Collaborate, Curate, Explore, and Engage--which highlight the standards' core educational concepts."

Each foundation is elaborated on in a Key Commitment which "describes the essential understandings for each of the six Shared Foundations." Each foundation is further elaborated on through the Competencies of Think, Create, Share, Grow
