The Skaneateles Band program begins in 4th grade and continues through high school, offering students eight years of musical growth and exploration. Students choose to study a brass, woodwind, or percussion instrument, developing skills in music reading, performance, and artistic expression.

At Skaneateles Middle School, students participate in either the 6th Grade Band or the combined 7th/8th Grade Band. Each ensemble meets every other day throughout the school year, with students also attending weekly small-group lessons.
Building on the foundational skills from elementary school, middle school students expand their musical abilities by exploring diverse meters, styles, key signatures, and rhythmic patterns.
The Middle School Bands perform three concerts during the school year and one off-site performance. Past off-site venues include The Lodge in Skaneateles, the Darien Lake Music Festival, and Seabreeze Music Days.
Students are also encouraged to participate in enrichment opportunities such as All-County, Area All-State, NYSSMA Solo Festivals, and other regional honor ensembles.
The Skaneateles High School Concert Band is open to students in grades 9–12. The ensemble rehearses daily throughout the school year, and students continue with weekly small-group lessons to enhance their individual musicianship.
In high school, students perform advanced repertoire and explore a wide variety of musical styles. They also have the opportunity to join the High School Jazz Band.
The Concert Band presents three school performances annually, along with one off-site performance. Recent off-site performances include concerts at the Everson Museum of Art and NYSSMA Major Festivals.
High school musicians are encouraged to audition for All-County, Area All-State, Conference All-State, and participate in NYSSMA Solo Festival.
