I graduated from Wayne State University with my master's degree in Library and Information Science in 2010. I interned with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Music Library and then worked as a librarian for nearly 3 years in Lyon County, Nevada. Then my career took a turn and I spent 8 years active duty with the U.S. Army. After my active duty service was complete in 2021, I was hired as a academic research and reference librarian for the U.S. Army Special Operations Libraries.
Since it had been over a decade since I received my master's degree, I knew I wanted to refresh my librarian skills. I applied to San Jose State University's Post-Master's Certificate program and chose the Digital Services and Emerging Technologies Pathway. My goals for this program were to:
update my knowledge of the latest library trends and practices;
enhance my technological skill set and obtain the skills to continue learning and adapting;
take all I learn and confidently be the best librarian I can be for my patrons.
