In Fall 2022, the first course I took for my post-master's certificate was Online Learning: Tools and Strategies with Professor Cindy Runnels. This course was required for all incoming students, and it's geared as a 'make sure you are ready for this program' class. I use communication technology on a regular basis, especially since the advent of COVID, but it was an excellent refresher on the intricacies of Zoom and well as a good way to 'play' with the different functions of Canvas. It was also nice to have a refresher on the last version of American Psychological Association (APA) style since I used Chicago Turabian Style for my master's degree.
While I personally did not struggle with any of the assignments for this class, I understood how important they would be for someone who was returning to school and unfamiliar with the tools. My sister is a teacher at a community college and her college's new students struggle with the technology and tools available. I recommended she suggest a course like this to her college.Â
