In the Summer of 2024, I took my final course for the post-master's certificate: Project Management with Professor Sean Gaffney. I chose to take this course because librarians don't work alone - we work in teams. In the near future, I hope to be leading a team of librarians and I wanted to make sure I have the strategies and techniques to be an excellent manager.
While I have lead teams and projects in the military, it was fascinating to learn about this process in the public sector and to be able to compare and contrast with my experience. Our term project for this class was an product that demonstrates knowledge of the current state of project management; I chose to focus on leadership styles. I believe this course has helped set me up for success as a future project manager.
