2024 ASME International Design Engineering Technical Conferences & Computers and Information in Engineering Conference (IDETC-CIE), Washington

ASME IDETC/CIE highlights emergent technologies that impact the critical engineering issues of product design and development, manufacturing, and the management and integration of information systems throughout the product life-cycle. These events are key international meetings for design and manufacturing engineers in academia, government, and industry. Dr. Mojtaba Sharifi presented two papers on active projects at ARMS Lab: "Structural Design, Modal Analysis and Manufacturing of an Intelligent Robotic Walker" and "Mechatronics and Control System Design of a Hand Exoskeleton with a Sensorized Soft Glove".

Dr. Sharifi was a topic organizer and session chair for "Mechanisms and Robotics", "Multibody Systems, Nonlinear Dynamics, and Control" and "Mechanical Vibration and Noise" tracks.

2024 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics (AIM) Conference, Boston

IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics highlights various aspects of advanced intelligent mechatronics systems, bringing discussion, stimulation, and celebration of the state-of-the-art frontier developments, discovery and innovations in mechatronics, robotics, automation, and related areas. Dr. Mojtaba Sharifi presented two papers on active projects at ARMS Lab: "Autonomous Motion Planning for a Motorized Walker Using Potential Field and Admittance Control" and "Mechatronics and Control System Design of a Hand Exoskeleton with a Sensorized Soft Glove".

Dr. Sharifi was the chair and co-chair of two sessions on the "Modeling and Design of Mechatronics Systems" and "Planning and Navigation" sessions.

2024 International Symposium on Medical Robotics (ISMR) Conference, Atlanta

ISMR is an event to bring together world-class researchers to present state-of-the-art research achievements and advances in surgical robotics, image-guided interventions, rehabilitation and assistive robotics along with discussions of challenges from the clinical point of view and address industry needs. Yu Xian Lim presented his work at ARMS Lab on the "Design and Development of a Chain-Based Cable-Driven Upper-Limb Exoskeleton" under the topic of Rehabilitation and Assistive Robotics.



2024 SJSU College of Engineering Showcase, San Jose

The Student Showcase and Celebration hosted by the SJSU Davidson College of Engineering is an event that celebrates student innovation, research, and design. Six teams from ARMS Lab presented their projects on the design, development, and control of assistive devices to the audience. The hand exoskeleton team received the "Most Innovative Project" award. 


2023 ASME International Mechanical Engineering Congress & Exposition (IMECE), New Orleans

ASME IMECE is an event where research leaders from academia, government, and industry converge to make connections and share insights for innovation across engineering disciplines. Dr. Sharifi had three presentations at the ASME IMECE 2023 in New Orleans, USA, on the "Design and Development of the Knee, Ankle, and Upper Limb Exoskeletons" under the topic of Rehabilitation Robotics

2023 IEEE/ASME International Conference on Advanced Intelligent Mechatronics, Seattle

This 26th edition of AIM, co-sponsored by esteemed organizations, such as the IEEE Robotics and Automation Society (RAS) and ASME Dynamic Systems, brought together a diverse community of researcher experts, and enthusiasts. Jaime presented the "Design and Development of a Lightweight, High-Torque, and Cost-Effective Hip Exoskeleton"

2023 SJSU College of Engineering Showcase, San Jose

The Student Showcase and Celebration hosted by the SJSU Davidson College of Engineering offered an opportunity to witness the impressive projects of some of the brightest students, connect with the next generation of engineers, and engage with Silicon Valley professionals. Four teams from ARMS Lab presented their projects on the design, development, and control of assistive devices to the audience. The upper limb exoskeleton team received the "Most Engaging Project" award. 

2023 SJSU RSCA in 5 Talk, San Jose

The "RSCA in Five: Faculty Short Talks" series at SJSU promotes collaboration among faculty members. Dr. Sharifi participated in the series on "Human Factors/Human Tech Interaction" with a presentation about "Safe and Stable Human-Robot Interaction for Assistance and Rehabilitation"

2023 SJSU Research Week Demo Day, San Jose

An open house event was held to demonstrate our laboratory's cutting-edge equipment and ongoing research involving lower limb exoskeletons, upper limb exoskeletons, and smart walkers. This event aimed to connect with the community and attract potential new members to join our research endeavors. Our team contributed to this event by demonstrating different assistive devices developed at ARMS Lab to the public audience.

The "RSCA in Five: Faculty Short Talks" series at SJSU promotes collaboration among faculty members. Dr. Mojtaba Sharifi participated in this series on "Community Engagement" with a presentation on the "Development of Assistive Robotic Systems Based on Community Needs and Viewpoints".

2022 INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON ROBOTICS AND AUTOMATION (ICRA) Workshop, Philadelphia

In this workshop, innovative ideas from experts and outstanding researchers who actively contributed to the field of HRI, CR, and AR were introduced to broaden the vision of the development of AI-based techniques, Machine Learning (ML) algorithms, and intelligent control schemes that can facilitate a balance between robot autonomy and human safety in various multidisciplined applications. The workshop was organized to include interactive keynote talks, round-table discussions, and poster presentations.

Dr. Sharifi organized an interdisciplinary workshop on "Intelligent Control Methods and Machine Learning Algorithms for Human-Robot Interaction and Assistive Robotics".
