The SJSU Mechanical Engineering Department's annual Alumni Recognition and Scholarship Awards Night was held to celebrate scholarship recipients, alumni, and benefactors. One outstanding member of our team, Sanad A. Shabbar, was recognized as the ME graduate of the year.
A celebration to honor SJSU faculty and staff who have published a book, exhibited a significant work of art, or submitted a patent application in 2023 for SJSU Author & Artist Celebration with Special Recognition for Inventors at SJSU Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Library. Dr. Mojtaba Sharifi was selected as one of SJSU's honorees for inventions in the field of assistive robotics.
The 2024 Student Showcase and Celebration hosted by the Davidson College of Engineering demonstrated and celebrated student innovation, research, and design. It offers an opportunity to witness the impressive projects of some of the brightest students. The hand exoskeleton development at ARMS Lab was selected as the most innovative project in the event.
The Davidson Scholarship Program in the College of Engineering offers students, both undergraduates and graduates, a unique opportunity to engage in original research and innovative projects. Avadh Vanparia received this scholarship providing him with an exciting platform to pursue and explore the intersection of robotics and sensor technology to innovate assistive devices for mobility. His project was focused on image and lidar-based motion planning for a robotic walker.
RSCA Fellowship awards students in pursuit of investigative, experimental, and creative work, and achievement in which the faculty and students engage. Sanad Shabbar, an undergraduate from the Mechanical Engineering Department and a student research assistant at ARMS Lab, received this award to pursue innovation in mechatronics and control of assistive robotic systems.
The Mark A. Pasquale Scholarship was designed to support and recognize students majoring in Mechanical Engineering at San Jose State University. This scholarship aims to encourage academic excellence, leadership, and community involvement among mechanical engineering students. Ashwin Unnikrishnan was awarded this scholarship to further pursue his studies and knowledge in advanced and intelligent control systems for lower limb exoskeletons.

Ana Isabel Espinosa Agundis received the Gilead Science Mechanical Engineering scholarship showing great effort, dedication, and passion for the field of Mechanical Engineering at the San Jose State University College of Engineering.
