Dear SJLS Families,
Welcome back for the 2022-2023 school year at St. John’s! I am thrilled to begin an engaging and active school year with your student(s). After teaching 3rd grade here at St. John’s for 11 years I am making the exciting shift to Physical Education for grades K-6th. Your student’s class is scheduled to visit me twice a week. Please ask your student’s teacher for their PE days and plan athletic wear accordingly (iPhone or Alexa reminders are wonderfully helpful!!).
It is of the utmost importance to me that every student feels successful each day and leaves class feeling confident and eager to return. I will incorporate enjoyable, active, and developmentally appropriate lessons for each grade level. In PE, students will be given opportunities to engage in moderate to vigorous physical activity to improve and/or maintain their physical health and well-being. They will also apply the skills and knowledge they acquire during class, and seek opportunities to be active outside of school as part of a healthy lifestyle. Additionally, instructional units are planned to develop motor, personal, and social skills.
Your student’s grade in PE is based on their participation and willingness to try all activities, demonstrate positive attitude and good sportsmanship, and have appropriate dress for physical activity. Students in K-6 must have the appropriate footwear on their PE days or points will be deducted. Gym shoes should have a non marking rubber sole to preserve our lovely gym floor. 5th and 6th grade students will also need to have their PE uniform each class to receive full credit. K-4th grade does not need a PE uniform but female students are encouraged to wear shorts if they are wearing a skirt.
If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to contact me: agreen@sjlschool.org
God’s blessings as you settle into a new school year!
