Megaphone alerts and reverberate at its highest volume and frequency throughout dormitel corridors…
It all starts with the unique wake-up call, so one gets a minimally deafening electronic cries and the rage is on. Yes, the chilly dawn invites more of a good sleep with bed bugs but one’s dream of soon becoming a future leader demands an awaked senses and entirety.
At four hundred thirty hours, there’ll be a drowsy cadet and an appropriate sports attire for another morning of muscle building, endurance, cardiovascular and an overall wellness exercises ‘til the calisthenics kicks-off. Dress-up, socks and shoes on, secure laces and we’re now executing safety and sustainability. Subsequently, the “S” will once again be embodied in good squads defying the highly-shivering sea breeze starboard side of the platoon formation. As we engage to the body twisting, contractions and contortions, there is mandatorily practiced warm-up to avoid injuries or sudden fainting or collapsing during the sweat course. In all we do, we adopt assertiveness or a futuristic approach as in this pre-acts accurately and religiously carrying our first core value. This is a maritime competency requirement that will soon be realistic onboard, this is an energy we wanted to bring to the world.
Then, here comes the lead marcher with his section marchers to ignite the morning ritual. In reasonable counts and repetitions locked-in with a “my cadet commence command” shout, the enthusiasm pounds the ground hard. Fair enough, the commencing gets well on the earlier cycle generating droplets of perspiration. But, as it lengthens, the breathing exercises would seem obsolete that catching our breath got no stoppage. Even the famous adrenaline rush can’t be inserted in the short story. Above the fatiguing transition, everyone persisted. Everyone endured because we do things passionately day by day. For real passion accepts no excuses. We may be tired now but we can rest and thrive again. This is “P” – passion, an energy we wanted to bring to the world.
Always explicit, the marcher system continuously served as our tangible proof of the “I” – integrity. To suffice leadership with color and substances, one should start the casting from himself. Without any surveillance, any eyes, and focused attention, one does the right and lawful thing in accordance to a system and responsibility. Greatly realized in the system, this value enables students to be self-directed, transparent, independent and a flexible leader. We have the best opportunity happening at selected occasions to handle the whole Future Leaders Program. In a good day, we have multiple hands and brilliant minds to finish challenges fast and precise. This is integrity, an energy we wanted to bring to the world.
Connectively, the marcher system is also a manifestation of the next value “R” – reliability. Being the commander (lead marcher and section marchers), the campus and the cadetship program duly bestows to us the full authority in such handlings. As in this idea, the whole force expects a rigid implementation of duty. An assigned cadet monitors the happenings starting from dorm to the academic building, that not even a single concern shouldn’t be addressed. Everybody is one’s responsibility, everybody is essential. The trust is constantly defended by the principles of the system by means of action arguments. This is reliability, an energy we wanted to bring to the world.
Doing things according to standards is intelligent but adopting the “I” is wise and powerful. Firstly, we embrace the 21st century learning design utilizing the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) as a primary medium of education. To picture out, the classroom become more diverse and interdisciplinary. When we are challenge with some areas of knowledge we consult our facilitator and our virtual teachers. The traffic of data and information allow us to become better critical thinkers. To display a disintegrated example, it would happen this way – at times when everyone seemed to be enervated or sleepy, an ice-breaker will be held letting everyone regain from exhaustion becoming active for another sets of lessons. This is innovation, an energy we wanted to bring to the world.
To complete our six core values is this act of doing things together, playing as a team. We end up at good outputs collaborating with one another in classrooms and online platforms. We connect and author changes by means of connecting through feedbacks, improving our strengths and filling the gaps of lapses. None is stronger without everyone’s support. This is “T” – teamwork, an energy we wanted to bring to the world.
