To enhance the knowledge and skills of the cadets and personnel in SJIT Maritime Education and Training center (SMET) about first aid, the Philippine Red Cross conducted a training on the said campus last November 16-17.
The training is a four-day activity that comprises of lectures and actual training about the right procedure of doing help like cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), lifting an injured individual, bandaging, and in using automated external defibrillator (AED).
Six cadets and a few personnel were privileged to join and gain more knowledge on how to take immediate action on accidents or mishaps that might happen inside or outside the campus.
βIt is essential for us students in this line of work because anytime accidents can happen and we need to be prepared in all circumstances,β said E/C Shem Natulla, one of the participant of the said training.
The said activity will continue on November 23-24 where the cadets and personnel will have an assessment on what they have learned throughout. Also, they will be given certificates after the event.
