Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence

Kun Ming was awarded the Brian Gilbert Instrumental Prize as one of the top scorers in the year. He graduated from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (RWCMD) with distinction after completing his Masters degree, MA Music Performance, in Cardiff, UK. Prior to this, he had completed his Bachelor of Classical Music (Hons.) at UCSI University. His teachers include Richard Ormrod, Loo Bang Hean and Peter Ngu.

During his time at RWCMD, Kun Ming was actively performing solo, chamber, choral and orchestral works with the Royal Welsh Symphony Orchestra. He has also performed in the Dora Stoutzker Hall, the foyer of RWCMD and St. David's Hall. He has had master-classes with Imogen Cooper, Llŷr Williams, Christian Ihle Hadland, Richard McMahon, Peter Hill and Graham Caskie.

After he returned to Malaysia in July 2015, he frequently participates in performances. He has received an opportunity as a resident pianist and artistic committee of the Kuala Lumpur City Opera, KLCO (formally known as Eat, Sing, Travel, EST) for the Operas Madame Butterfly, Hansel and Gretel, (2018), Nozze di Figaro and La Fille du Regiment (2017). He is also the resident pianist in the Allegro Music & Arts studio. Besides performances and recitals, he is keen to piano accompaniment and for music examinations.

He is currently teaching in St. Joseph's Institution International School, Nexus International School, Epsom College in Malaysia and private teaching. His upcoming performances are Beijing Harmonica Asia Pacific Gala Concert with Owen Ho and accompanying his students for participating the competition in August, Madame Butterfly Opera workshops and concerts in Italy in Sept this year. In October 2017, he was invited to Trossingen, Germany to accompany students who were participating in the Harmonica Festival. He has been invited by renowned soprano, Cecilia Yap and her teacher, Lorraine Marenzi, to perform in Italy. He was fortunate to perform in Rome in the celebration of Malaysia Day; invited by the Italian and Malaysian Embassies to perform in Ostia, organized by Italian Tourism. He is an appointed pianist in Garden International School for ABRSM piano collaborative and also for musical productions with the drama and music department and also for choir concert.

Away from piano performances, Kun Ming is the choir member of Dithyrambic Singers since 2010. For Dithyrambic Singers, he serves as one of the choir rehearsal pianists and singers to perform the work of Distant Worlds : Music from Final Fantasy in 2014 & 2012 and Andrea Bocelli Live in Kuala Lumpur in 2013 together with the Malaysian Philharmonic Orchestra. Kun Ming also contributed as a president of School of Music Student Association (SMSA) in UCSI University between 2011 and 2012.
