Enjoy and don’t forget to get out in nature and connect with country.
Aboriginal people had many different cultures and languages across Australia and they formed different nations.
Each group had to ask permission to enter another groups’ country. They would often sit by the border and set up camp waiting for an elder to come to them, offering gifts so they could enter their country. Just as we need a passport to enter another country out of Australia, they also needed permission too.
As a mark of respect we now have elders of the country do welcome ceremonies before big events like the Wominjeka Festival.
