In order to further support learning continuity for your child, SJCOE Special Education Programs is offering opportunities to access Discrete Trial Training (DTT) via a virtual platform. DTT is an evidence based practice, meaning that it is supported in the research to be effective in teaching a variety of skills including social, communication, academics, school readiness and behavior. DTT is a method of teaching which breaks skills down into discrete teaching units. This is a highly structured approach which includes consistent instructions and responses. DTT is an integral part of increasing learning rates for children with a diagnosis of Autism.
In this 1 hour training, we will review the virtual DTT model and your role during scheduled DTT sessions. After a 2 week trial period, we will have a follow up meeting to discuss what is working and common issues that we can work through together.
This training is available for students accessing DTT instruction. DTT is typically provided in SJCOE Pre - K and K - 3rd Autism Programs. Contact your student's teacher for more information.
