Safety

The Yale School of Drama requires its students, staff and faculty to employ safety precautions whenever and wherever work is happening, as well as making sure that all rehearsals and actions on stage are done safely. The School has a Safety Handbook, which all students are expected to read, outlining the rules and policies that all members of our community are expected to follow on all School and Repertory productions. As a result of being in the forefront of theatre safety some incoming students, or outside designers, may find some of our policies different from what they are accustomed to in other theatres. Some people are unaware of the many dangers around them so as the Production Electrician you must patiently explain to your crew, and designer, about our safety and health policies, and the need for the Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) that they must wear. If at any time you need assistance enforcing YSD safety policies please see the Lighting Supervisor or the staff member working with you.
