Aki Matsuri - Fall Festival

Aki Matsuri

2023 Festival Details

Aki Matsuri was celebrated at Yujin Gakuen on Friday, November 17th, from 5:30 - 7:30 pm.

There was a bake sale table and we enjoyed onigiri, dried seaweed snacks, and miso soup as well!

In addition, families we able to partake in table activities like origami in the cafeteria while they talked and ate their bakery items and for a more active celebration, they were able to venture to the gym and join the family dance party, complete with hula hoops and dance contests with prizes!

We hope that everyone that attended had a wonderful time and if you would like to share your photos or your feedback, please send them to us at ygschoolpto@gmail.com   If you were unable to attend, don't worry - we will have another fun festival in January to celebrate the New Year called Oshogatsu!

Aki Matsuri

What is it?

Aki Matsuri translates to Fall or Autumn Festival. This is a traditional Shinto celebration to thank the gods for a successful harvest and for the health of every family in the community festival. It usually includes a parade of miniature shrines (mikoshi) carried on the shoulders and transported through the town or village. There may also be dance and musical performances.
