President (2-Year Term)
The President serves as the lead for the group and a key contact and liaison for staff, PTO members, officers, and community members. 2025-2027 (Next Term): Open
Vice President (1-Year Term)
The Vice President is a good entry-level executive board position and can be good training for future roles that allows you to take on additional responsibilities that suit your talents and availability (e.g., social media/event planning.) You will play a role in day-to-day operations of the PTO, assist the board as a whole, and help work out issues as they arise.
2024-2025 (Current Term): Open
2025-2026 (Next Term): Open
Secretary (1-Year Term)
The Secretary types up the meeting agendas, supports legal documentation, updates website, prepares and uploads minutes from each meeting, and handles general communication with our school secretary, teachers, and parents through broadcast emails (e.g., promoting volunteer opportunities, drafting newsletters, etc.).
2024-2025 (Current Term): Vanessa Watkins
2025-2026 (Next Term): Open
Treasurer (2-Year Term)
The Treasurer collects, deposits, and disburses all funds according to the budget while maintaining a current record of income, expenditures & assets. You will present a financial report of income and expenses at each meeting, prepare a year-end financial report, and file all required tax forms.
2023-2025 (Current Term): Melissa Earl
2025-2027 (Next Term): Open
Volunteer Coordinator (1-Year Term)
Serving as Volunteer Coordinator is crucial to event success, finding volunteer support and onsite event coordination. You will work on volunteer recruitment for fundraising events and festivals, match event needs with a volunteer interest, and be the main contact and director of volunteers before and during events.
2024-2025 (Current Term): Open
2025-2026 (Next Term): Open
Miscellaneous Positions
Other positions are possible if desired but there must be at least a president and treasurer first before there can be additional roles. These additional roles can include positions like classroom representatives, specific event coordinators, fundraising coordinators, Japanese cultural or language coordinators - to name a few ideas.
Did you know all PTO board positions will be open for election at the end of this school year? If the positions are not filled, we risk not being able to raise funds for vital school activities like classroom supplies, cultural festivals, and hosting interns.
The board needs motivated people who are able and willing to actively support YG staff and students. Board positions are open to anyone in the YG community including staff.
As a whole, the PTO board is responsible for planning and completing a variety of tasks including fundraising and cultural events. All positions will participate in executive board discussions as needed, typically monthly, and decision making such as funding, planning, and facilitating events. You will be an ambassador for the PTO and school.
